Easy lemon and lime concentrate lemonade made at home

I've tried a few recipes for home made lemonade through the years but this one I found last Summer I think it is the one that we all enjoyed better. It is a good idea to have the mixture ready in the fridge for whenever you need to treat your family or your guests and it can also be used as the base for other beverages and cocktails. Depending on your preference it can be easily diluted in iced water or soda and it gets an extra flavour if you add a few leaves of fresh mint or spearmint

Homemade warm chocolate drink infused with mint liqueur

I love hot chocolate and I love it even more when it is homemade. This version is an easy one to prepare and very tasty too, giving you that special cozy feeling that only a cup of hot chocolate can during a cold night! Chocolate and mint suit each other perfectly as we know so indulge yourselves with this smooth hot drink any time in the week. Something we have tried out and we did like was to replace the mint liqueur with banana liqueur which again goes well with chocolate. In that case you'd also add a couple of black peppercorns in to give an extra kick to the drink

Spicy hot chocolate drink with sweet wine

Before the Winter weather leave us for good lets try another delicious hot drink with chocolate. The spices suggested in the recipe are only an indication. The final taste and flavour of the drink is affected by the combination of the spices you'd like to use. So feel free to use your favourite ones. If you're planning to treat kids as well with this drink then you can omit the alcohol and in that case use single cream instead. As for the wine, you can substitute the Mavrodaphni with a Vissanto from Santorini island or a sweet wine from Samos island. Both are excellent and well known abroad

Easy warm chocolate drink

There is nothing like a warm chocolate drink in the Winter months and I believe that most of you agree with me! And when the drink is made at home it tastes even better and gives us such a cozy feeling! Here we have a basic recipe to follow but there are so many little things we can do to give to the drink a special twist. Try out some orange zest, freshly ground cinnamon or nutmeg or cardamom, Grand Marnier or other liqueur or even various freshly ground peppercorns

Home made cherry liqueur

Cherries are very popular Summer fruits and one of my personal favourites! When in season, like now, we should take advantage and "trap" them into bottles so to have the chance to enjoy their taste and aroma all year round! This is one of the most fragrant and tasty liqueurs I have ever tasted and you should try this recipe out

Homemade strawberry liqueur flavoured with spearmint

May is the month of strawberries and there are so maaaany things we can prepare with this fragrant and tasty, sub-sour fruit!! One of the things many households do in Greece between the Spring and Summer months is to prepare the next season's homemade jams, preserves, dessert-spoon sweets and liqueurs. So take advantage of this velvety, vibrant red and delicious fruit to make your own liqueur which can be served chilled any time and especially after a rich meal

Warm milk flavoured with Greek saffron and cardamom

Krokos is a small Greek town only 5 km south of the city of Kozani in Western Makedonia province. This town is famous in Greece and abroad for the production of the Greek Saffron, which is one of the world's most intense and valuable varieties. The history of Greek red saffron or "Krokos Kozanis" as we call it (Crocus Sativus Linneaus plant) dates back to prehistoric Greece. Although the ancient Minoans were known to cultivate saffron during Late Bronze Age Crete, the cultivation of the plant disappeared from Greece until about 300 years ago, when Greek traders brought the plant from Austria back to the region of Kozani. The town of Krokos is the base of the Cooperative of Saffron Producers of Kozani. Annual production, depending on weather conditions, ranges from 6 to 12 tons of pure red saffron each year. All of it is Protected Designation of Origin (PDO), meaning no other region of Greece can produce Greek Red Saffron. It is also extremely high-quality because it has a guaranteed coloring strength of 230. We use the Greek saffron very often in the Greek cuisine in both savoury and sweet dishes. Today I have for you a special warm drink where the Krokos gives a special aroma and taste
