Homemade warm chocolate drink infused with mint liqueur

I love hot chocolate and I love it even more when it is homemade. This version is an easy one to prepare and very tasty too, giving you that special cozy feeling that only a cup of hot chocolate can during a cold night! Chocolate and mint suit each other perfectly as we know so indulge yourselves with this smooth hot drink any time in the week. Something we have tried out and we did like was to replace the mint liqueur with banana liqueur which again goes well with chocolate. In that case you'd also add a couple of black peppercorns in to give an extra kick to the drink

Recipe from "Cook Book" magazine of "ETHNOS" newspaper

Ingredients (for 1 person):
250 ml of milk
50 gr. of dark bitter chocolate, cut in small pieces
1 tbsp of dark brown sugar
2 tbsp of mint liqueur
Method:
Put the sugar and 200ml of the milk in a saucepan and simmer in low heat without stirring.

Put the chocolate pieces in the mug you will serve the drink in.

When the milk riches the boiling point, pour it into the mug and stir thoroughly until the chocolate is melted.

Warm the rest of the milk in low heat and beat, right in the saucepan, with an electric hand-blender until it becomes frothy. Pour the mixture into the mug with the chocolate and complete the drink by adding the liqueur.

Garnish the drink with a couple of fresh mint leaves and serve immediately.
