Florina red peppers stuffed with cheese
This is an excellent meze dish coming from Northern Greece and it is an ideal accompaniment for your ouzo. Normally we use a special type of red peppers, the sweet Florina peppers (they grow in the region with the same name). If not easy to find them abroad you can substitute with normal bell red peppers or the Anaheim chilles (in case you prefer something hotter)

Goat kid baked with vegetables and cheese in baking paper
Another traditional recipe, this time coming from the beautiful island of Zakynthos in Ionian Sea and it is similar to the "Lamb kleftiko" I have posted in the blog some time ago. The goat kid melts in the mouth after the long cooking in the oven and gets a great taste wrapped along with vegetables and Greek Kefalotyri (Kefalissio) cheese in baking paper

The Greek "Rosbif" in tomato sauce served with macaroni
Don't ask why we call this dish "rosbif" (the way the French sometimes call the English "roast beef" because of the way of cooking) since the recipe is not cooked in the oven..... and also is not cut in slices..... This is how it always has been known for generations and generations. It has been said that probably comes from the Greeks of Asia Minor and it is a very popular recipe of Serres area in Northern Greece. It is one of the most beloved Sunday dishes and one of the most popular comfort foods in the Greek cuisine. Every mother has her own small secret for the best "rosbif in the neighbourhood" to gloat for.....

Yianniotiko Kataifi
This is a different version of the classic "Kataifi" dessert, coming from the region of Ioannina (North West of Greece). It is one of the best "kataifi" versions you could find with the combination of kataifi (shredded) pastry and phyllo sheets pastry and the delicious filling of walnuts and spices.
