Easy walnut chocolate pie with chocolate sauce glaze

A luscious, fully chocolate pie with the addition of walnuts for extra flavour and crunchiness to treat family and guests! A dessert which can be served any time regardless the season or the occasion. Great idea to serve it as a birthday cake too for something different than the customary cakes

Ingredients (for 4-6 people)

For the pie:
450 gr. of butter
450 gr. of dark chocolate
900 gr. of granulated sugar
9 eggs
10 gr. of baking powder
300 gr. of all-purpose flour
150 gr. of walnuts, finely chopped
extra walnuts to garnish

Ingredients for the chocolate sauce:
500 gr. of chocolate, melted
750 ml of crème fraîche

Method:
Preheat the oven to 180 ºC. Brush with butter and lightly dust with flour the bottom and the sides of a medium-size oven pan (not too deep).

Melt the chocolate with the butter in a bowl with the Bain-marie method.

In another bowl beat the eggs and the sugar with a hand mixer (or a whisk) until they become creamy. Then add the chocolate/butter mixture and stir thoroughly with a rubber spatula.

Then add the flour, the baking powder and in the end the chopped walnuts. Stir gently but thoroughly the ingredients and empty the batter into the pan.

Put in the oven and bake for about 35 minutes.

In the meantime, prepare the chocolate sauce. Put the cream in a saucepan and boil in low heat. Gradually pour it over the melted chocolate in a bowl, while stirring at the same time with the spatula until well blended. Keep it warm.

Take the pie out of the oven and while it is still hot pour with the warm chocolate sauce. Allow the pie to cool completely and the sauce to set before you cut in pieces.

Garnish on top with walnuts and serve.
