Easy sauté pork chops in mild spices sauce

Simple in method and ingredients but very tasty, this recipe is really nice for pork chops which sometimes tend to be rather bland. You can also use chops from the shoulder which are even softer. Try out different combinations of spices if you wish or just replace with some fresh thyme or oregano. All these go very nicely with the pork meat

Recipe from "BHMAgourmet" magazine of "TO BHMA" newspaper

Ingredients (for 4 people):
4 large pork chops, 2 cm thick (or 8 small chops)
3-4 tbsp of olive oil
1 pinch of ground anise seeds
1 pinch of ground cinnamon
100 ml of white dry wine
salt
pepper

Method:
In a wide and deep frying pan put the oil on medium heat. When it is hot enough add the pork chops and the spices.

Turn the chops regularly to sauté well on both sides until they get a nice colour.

Add the wine, 1/2 a glass of water and season with salt and pepper. Turn the heat to medium-low, cover the pan with a lid and simmer the pork chops for 40-45 minute or until the meat is cooked through and really tender. If it is needed, during cooking, add a bit of warm water.

Serve the pork chops while they are still hot along with their sauce and accompany with mashed potatoes or steamed vegetalbes.
