Sweet pizza with bananas and chocolate

Not long ago I gave you a nice recipe to create your own dough for sweet pizza! Here is now the first recipe where you can put that dough in use so to have a great dessert to share and enjoy with friends and family. A recipe with just a few simple ingredients but with a delicious result. Banana and chocolate is one of the most classic and popular sweet combinations and if laid together on a nice crispy dough then things can't get tastier

Recipe of Fotis Chryssanthidis, a promising young Confectioner in Greece
"BHMAgourmet" magazine of "TO BHMA" newspaper (2010)

Ingredients (for 1 pizza -for 6 people)

For the dough:
The ingredients and the procedure in the relative post for the sweet pizza dough

For the filling:
100gr. plain chocolate, cut in small pieces (at least 50% of cocoa solids)
70ml of whipping cream (35% fat)
2 medium ripe but firm bananas, cut in thin slices
50gr. plain chocolate, cut in small pieces (at least 50% of cocoa solids)

Method:
Preheat the oven to 170ºC.

On a large piece of baking paper roll the dough out into a round thin disc of 22cm diameter. Transfer the dough along with the baking paper on a baking sheet or pizza pan.

Put the 100gr. of chocolate in a deep bowl. Warm the cream in a saucepan on medium-low heat and then pour it over the chocolate. Stir well with a rubber spatula until the chocolate is melted and you end up with a well blended mixture.

Leave aside until the mixture is stabilized and rather firm. When ready, spread the mixture on top of the pizza dough.

Arrange the banana slices on top of the chocolate in a circular mode and on top scatter the rest of the chocolate.

Put in the oven and bake for about 20 minutes or until the chocolate is melted and the dough is nicely cooked with slightly crispy edges.

Leave to rest for a couple of minutes and serve right after.

  2. Me either until I discovered, over a year ago, some great recipes of F. Chryssanthidis (nephew of Mr Parliaros) and I had to try them. Greek food photographers (like Mr Drakopoulos with this one) are doing such a great job!! Having seen thousands of cooking/food photos living abroad, I must say that they have nothing to be jealous of (regarding their foreign colleagues) and the Greek cooking magazines are lucky to have them!!! Have a nice week too
