Ingredients (for 4 people):
1 1/2Kg of beef, cut in cubes of 3cm
2 medium onions, finely chopped
3 tbsp of butter
2 cups of beef stock
1 lemon, the zest and the juice
1 lemon, the juice only
1 carrot and 1 celery stalk tied up together
1 tsp of ground coriander
1 tsp of oregano
200ml single cream
1 tbsp of cornflour (cornstarch)
salt
pepper
Method:
In a large pot, melt the butter in medium heat and sauté the meat cubes on all sides.
Add the onions and sauté until they gets soft. Pour over with the beef stock, the lemon zest, the carrot and the celery, the oregano, the coriander and season with salt and pepper. Lower the heat and cook the meat until it is very tender.
Discard the carrot and the celery, add the lemon juice, the double cream and leave the food to cook for a couple more minutes.
Dissolve the cornflour in a bit of cold water and add it in the pot. Shake the pot a few times in a circular mode, leave the sauce to become creamy and thick and take off the heat.
Serve immediately along with fried potatoes.
